Who is Kate?

Katherine, Principal Pet Professional

Katherine is the proud owner of Kate's Paws&Claws, a premier dog walking, boarding and petsitting service based out of Brooklyn, New York (see FAQ section for service areas). With a BS degree in International Trade, Katherine's background encompasses nearly 9 years in the fashion industry as an import/export associate, and 3 in the offices of the restaurant industry. Growing tired and saddened by the long hours and corporate mentality, she found her true calling in 2006, when she responded to an ad for a dogwalker. Suddenly, being surrounded by four walls was no longer an option. Caring for four-legged companions every day was.

"I started Kate's Paws&Claws in 2007 and grew my business through word of mouth. From experience as a dog owner myself, I understand what pet owners are looking for in someone to walk their dog and care for their pet. I'm passionate about animals, and chose this profession for that reason. It gives me great satisfaction to know that my clients have put their trust in me and that they are thinking about their pet’s happiness and well-being. I'm grateful every day that clients allow me into their homes to be such an important and vital part of their pet's life." 

Katherine prides herself on one-on-one walks (and the occasional two or three for play dates) and does not believe in large group walks. "Every dog has it's own personality and unique walking needs. One-on-one allows me to learn about a dog and develop a personal relationship between the dog and myself."  

Katherine is also trained and certified in pet CPR and First Aid by PetTech.
